William A. Hawkins

William A. Hawkins “Wig”, 75, of Winnemucca passed away at Renown Medical Center in Reno on Feb. 21. William was born on Nov. 23, 1945 in Tellruide, Colo. to William S. and Lillian Marie Hawkins.

He grew up in Colorado and later moved to Nevada. He was a certified welder and worked in mining in both Colorado and Nevada. He later became a Nevada State Mine Inspector. Wig enjoyed fishing, camping outdoors and spending time with his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. William is survived by his wife: Terry Hawkins; his children: Darren (Joy) Hawkins, Adam (Mary) Hawkins and Troy (Trace) Hawkins.

He had ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren with more on the way. His brothers: Donny (Susie) McPherson, Terry (Shirley) Hawkins and Larry Hawkins; sister: Patricia Lynn Garcia.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 1 p.m. at the Winnemucca Convention Center in Winnemucca.

Lorri Riffle

Lorri Riffle, 65, passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of Thursday, Feb. 22. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 10, 1 p.m. at New Life Fellowship on Airport Road in Thompson Falls, Idaho.

Following the memorial service, a luncheon will be provided. Stay to share your favorite memories with family and friends. A full obituary will follow in a future edition of the Independent-News.
