Dear Editor,

On March 6 the sacks of aluminum cans that people have been bringing me were taken to Sims Metal Management in Reno by Hawthorne Utilities as part of the county’s support of Armed Forces Day and it was a total of 942 lbs and brought $489.84 into the Flyover Account for the Armed Forces Day parade flyover pilots’ fuel.

We ask that people keep bringing their cans to us for recycling, but please only aluminum cans and nothing else should be in the bags.

They can be dropped off at the airport building by the parking lot door, at 901 I Street or call me at 945-9286 and we will come pick them up.

Thank you everyone – what a great job!

The Flyover donation jars are now in several of the local businesses for people who would like to make donations.

Betty Easley, Hawthorne
