Mineral County’s quest for the postseason continued Friday night when they shut out Pyramid Lake 54-0 in Hawthorne on Homecoming and Senior Night.
The Serpents 10 seniors finished their home career in a big way as the team jumped out to an early lead and cruised to victory.
It was an important conference win for Mineral County (5-1, 3-1) who sit alone in third place behind undefeated Whittell and Virginia City.
The win sets up a crucial match with Whittell Friday night that could determine the Serpents postseason fate. With three games remaining on the schedule, Mineral County will likely need to win out to make the playoffs.
The Warriors are coming off a 62-0 at Sierra Lutheran and have blown out every opponent they’ve faced this season.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Zephyr Cove.
