With glowing remarks given by Tom Gallegos, Mineral County School District Maintenance Director, for the summer accomplishments of 2017, many were honored in recognition for their added efforts during a full summer schedule of projects and support.

Present for the school board presentation was Dr. Ben Gooch, who assisted in various painting jobs throughout the district and Danny Strong who was not present to accept his certificate. Also included in recognition was the Booster Club; specifically members Michele Hart, Brenda Jones, Tom Carrigan and Ray Morgan who took it upon themselves to paint the entire concession stand, by not only updating the exterior but also the inside walls and floors.

“They only asked me for some paint,” Gallegos shared, “then they took it upon themselves to do the work and saw that it was accomplished. This was such a help during an exceptionally busy summer for our department and it looks great.”

Also verbally acknowledged was Sarah Favero, manager of the Sinclair Gas Station located on Fifth Street, who committed to giving ten cents per gallon of gas back to the local Booster Club. This has averaged a donation of $1,000 a month back into the needs of our high school and junior high community.
