Longtime Mina resident Barbara Eleanore Brandt peacefully passed away at Mount Grant Hospital on Sunday May 21, 2017. She was born in Monterey, Calif. on Dec. 27, 1935 to Margot Larue and Cecil Peterson.

While growing up, Brandt attended several schools, even 3rd grade in Babbitt and 10th grade at MCHS. She finished high school in Newport, Calif. graduating with honors in the class of 1953.

After graduating she went to Lewiston, Idaho where she met Frank Brandt. They were married January of 1955. While in Lewiston the couple welcomed two children, Steve and Diane.

The family moved to Nevada settling in Mina in 1963. They were home in Mina. Brandt became very involved in all community functions. She was a teacher’s aide at the Mina School, worked at the Mina Library and helped with Boy Scouts. Brandt was an active member of the Mina Care and Share and the Craft Club in Luning. She was member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She loved her family, her savior Jesus Christ and her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank.

She is survived by her children: Steve Brandt and Diane Brandt; her grandchildren: Tim Brandt (Raychel); Sarah Bartlet; Denise Vanoudenhaegen; Darlene Vanoudenhaegen, Matthew Cooper and her great granddaughter McKenna Brandt.

Brandt is remembered as a kind, loving person with a sparkle in her eye and a wonderful smile.

Memorial services will be held Friday June 2, 2017, 12 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on South A Street, Hawthorne.
