Amanda Rivero picked up two wins on the mound in the same day as the Mineral County High softball team cruised to a pair of victories at Eureka on Friday afternoon.

MCHS 16, Eureka 4

Rivero got the start for the Lady Serpents in game one of the doubleheader and went the distance. The senior hurler struck out five and only allowed six hits and two earned runs in seven innings of work. She also helped herself out at the plate with an RBI triple, two walks and two runs scored.

Kialani Brown and Julienna Williams also tallied hits and Tiera McFalls scored four times in the rout. The Lady Serpents scored four times in the second inning and six in the third to put the game away early for the visitors.

MCHS 18, Eureka 8

The Lady Serpents and Lady Vandals were locked up in a tight one before Mineral County scored nine times in the fifth to sweep the doubleheader.

Rivero picked up the win with four strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings after relieving Hailey Lahre who struck out five.

Lahre was the hitting star at the plate for the Lady Serpents with three hits, a home run and six RBIs. Williams knocked in four on a double and triple, and Jesslyn Gomez had three hits, three runs scored and an RBI.

The Lady Serpents sit in first place atop the 1A Northern West standings and ran their record to 15-4 after the wins. They hosted Tonopah on Tuesday and will play two against Wells on Friday at home.
