In 1996, Financial Horizons Credit Union created our Pennies Count Fund to help with school projects in Mineral County. Twenty-one years later Pennies Count has grown into much more and we are able to donate to many different organizations throughout our community.

The Pennies Count Fund began with members donating the “cents” from either cashing a check or a recurring direct deposit. The employees also pay $1 each Friday to the Pennies Count Fund to dress down in jeans, which raises approximately $2,392 annually between all of the offices. Each office holds several fundraisers and raffles throughout the year to help raise funds as well.

This year the Hawthorne office raised $3700 which was distributed as follows: Hawthorne Pop Warner Association: $1,000; Hawthorne Little League: $1,000; Shop with a Cop program: $1,000; MCHS Safe Grad: $500; Mineral County Care & Share: $500 and Celebrate Recovery: $200.
