A verbal argument landed a Hawthorne man in jail last week after he fired his gun according to the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office.
On Jan. 15, Mineral County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a man with a gun outside of a residence in the 700 block of C Street in Hawthorne.
In a statement from the sheriff’s office, it states, “Deputies responded and discovered there had been a verbal argument between two males on the 800 block of C Street and one male had fired a gun during this argument.”
The man was identified as Robert J. Jenkins, who would later be arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, aiming a gun at a person, drawing a deadly weapon in a threatening manner and discharging a gun in public.
Jenkins was arrested and placed in the Mineral County Jail on a bail of $265,140 bond/cash. He was later released having posted bond.
10 % of that bail is 26,000.00 dollars…which is what a bail bondsman charges. Somebody that’s got 26 grand laying around I would think wouldn’t be involved in an armed confrontation. Regardless, he’ll never be able to own a firearm again. (legally)
