The season came to an end on a high note for the Mineral County High football team at home on Friday as the Serpents went out on the winning side after defeating Excel Christian 37-22.

It was a bittersweet end for the Serpents on senior night as they narrowly missed out on the playoffs after victories by Whittell and Virginia City locked up their spots.

Whittell will travel to Wells on Friday and Virginia City will play Eureka at home as the representatives of the 1A Northern West division.

The Serpents finished the season in third place with a record of 6-3 overall and 6-2 in conference. Their only two league losses were to the Warriors and Muckers.
