mad-hatters-gaatheringThe Red Hat ladies were decked out in pink hats and dresses for this gathering to signify our help in the fight against breast cancer. We added a lovely big pink pig to our entourage. She, of course, is a big bank and will join us each month, hungry for our loose change. I wonder how much we can collect in a year to donate to the 2017 Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I guess we’ll have to come up with a name for Piggy. Maybe we can charge $1 for a chance to enter a ‘name the pink pig contest’! We voted to send $100 to the Susan G. Komen Nevada organization for Northern Nevada. The promise of that organization is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

We planned a trip to Bishop in October to see the fall colors, visit Laws Museum and have lunch at Schott’s Road House. I just imagine there will be a side trip to the bakery—can’t go to Bishop without doing that. (We did make the trip to Bishop on Thursday the 13th. We were few in number but had a fun time.)

The September birthday girl who endured our chorus rendition of Happy Birthday was Della Young, who just celebrated her 90th. Suzy Morrow won the door prize. After breakfast we enjoyed the pink decorated cupcakes made by Linda Willis.

Oct. 22 the gathering will celebrate Halloween. There will be a prize for the best costume, so I’m sure we’ll have some ghostly, horrifying garbs.
