The Mineral County High football team shook off its season opening loss to Tonopah two weeks ago and bounced back with a win over visiting Wells Friday night.

Playing on their home field for the first time this season, The Serpents raced out to a 12 point lead after the first quarter before taking a 42-14 lead into the locker room at halftime. Mineral County added a score in the third quarter and led 50-14. The Leopards were able to manage two scores in the fourth to close the gap, but it was as close as they would come as they fell by 20.

Mineral County will take their 1-1 record into its matchup with division rival Virginia City tomorrow in Hawthorne. The Muckers are 2-0 on the young season and are coming off a 48-0 shutout of Carlin last week on the Comstock.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
