Heidi Bunch – Klondex Mines purchased the Esmeralda Mill in the Aurora Mining District for $80 million.

The Esmeralda Mill located at the historic Aurora Mining District has been sold to Klondex Mines for $80 million.
The property was owned by Waterton Nevada Splitter LLC who bought the mill in November of 2013 and put the operations on care and maintenance.

Included in the sale of the Esmeralda Mill was the Hollister gold mine in Northern Nevada. It included a core shed and corporate house in Winnemucca, a lab in Lovelock, the fleet of underground mining equipment and other land interests and assets.

Hollister, was once considered one of the world’s highest grade gold deposits. That mine received environmental permission in 2014 but never reached commercial production.

Klondex also operates the Midas and Fire Creek gold mines also located in Nevada.

The closing of the Esmeralda Mill left many Mineral County residents out of work. Mining in the Mineral County area has been in decline for many years.
