Wildfire

Photo courtesy of Melissa Stark The Big Chief Fire that began June 22 northeast of Gabbs near the Big Chief Mine has been contained after burning 100 acres. The Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center said last Thursday a fire line had been drawn completely around the blaze that was burning in grass and brush near Lodi Valley. The fire was on BLM land and crews from the BLM Carson City and Winnemucca districts both responded. It was fought by two single-engine air tankers from above, with ground crews also working the fire.
