Tyler Hughes

Navy seaman apprentice Tyler Hughes is the son of Victor and Tonja Hughes of Hawthorne, and the grandson of Tony and Sharon Hughes.

Seaman Apprentice Tyler Hughes of Chico, Calif. recently completed nine weeks of Basic Training and his Advanced Training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center located near Chicago, Ill.

During basic training US Navy recruits are trained in military justice, marching, survival, weapons qualification and other aspects of military life. At basic graduation Seaman Hughes was chosen as the unit colors bearer.

Seaman Hughes’ Advanced (A Training) was also held for nine weeks at Great Lakes Training Center where he received training in firefighting, welding and plumbing. With prior experience in welding, he excelled in his welding training earning him second highest student in the class only two points of being the top student. Following basic and advanced training, Seaman Hughes has been assigned his duty station at Norfolk, Va. where he will serve following a short leave before returning to duty.

Hughes is the son of Victor and Tonja Hughes of Hawthorne and Suzy and Bryan Buck of Durham, Calif.; brother of Justin Littrell of Chico, Calif.; grandson of Tony and Sharon Hughes of Hawthorne and Liz Littrell of Durham and Dave Littrell of Oregon and nephew, David Littrell also of Oregon.

Relatives and family members attending his basic graduation in Illinois in February 2016 were: his father, Victor and grandfather, Tony Hughes both of Hawthorne; mother Suzy and stepfather Bryan; brother, Justin; Tyler’s girlfriend, Madi and her mother, Trisha both of Chico.
