It was a great weekend to be a Lady Serpent as the Mineral County High softball team swept a double-header against Carlin, both by the 10-run rule.

In game one, Kendal Williams led the team by striking out the Railroaders five times while the infield allowed only two runs nine baserunners. The final score of game one was 14- 2.

In game two, Carlin was frustrated again by the Lady Serpents defense allowing them no runs for the first two innings behind the pitching of Amanda Rivero, who struck out four batters. Rivero and the Lady Serpents defense would go on to hold Carlin to only five runs on their way to a 15-5 win.

The Lady Serpents offense in both games was a full team effort with every girl getting at least one base hit and a collective total of 31 stolen bases.

Team co-captain and catcher Abby MacNamara said, “We are first place in the Northern Division of softball. I am super proud of all of us!”

The Lady Serpents are now 9-2 overall and 2-0 in league play. Their upcoming schedule includes Round Mountain on Tuesday at home, a double-header against Rite of Passage on Friday at 1 p.m. in Hawthorne and finishing up the week with their second conference matchup of the season at Pyramid Lake Saturday.
