Ida Lou Talamante-Smith was born June 25, 1949 to the late Nick Talamante and the late Constancita “Connie” Salazar. She departed this life Jan. 4, 2016 at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada surrounded by loved ones.
Ida is survived by Rose Swanger; Helen Courneya (Joe); Nick Talamante, Jr.; Madeline Torres and Teresa Gonzales, including numerous nieces and nephews.
Ida is also preceded in death by her sister, Angela Torres and grandson Spencer Hinton.
Ida had four glorious children, her “Rock” Anthony Shane Smith and grandson Brody. Her “Beautiful” Teresa Brunner with the blue Mexican eyes, husband Scott and daughter Denise (Ryan and children Conner, Ryder and baby Oliver) and their son Anthony and daughter Kirstie (Derrick). Her “Princess Tiny” Nicki Dunn-Teixeira and husband Greg and their “Boy George.” Last but not least her “Little take charge Bulldog” Kristin Reeves and husband Brandon “BJ” and their boys Glenn and Chase.
Ida’s hobbies were first and foremost her family. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, yelling at her grandkids and most importantly attending all of their sporting events.
Ida worked for SOC Nevada, LLC for 35 years where she met some of her dearest friends. She loved her job and her firemen.
Some of her last words were “It doesn’t matter if they’re not blood, they are my family.” And Ida had a lot of family. She will be missed by all.
Services will be held at the Jr. High School Gym, Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 at 4 p.m. A potluck reception will be held at the Elks Lodge immediately following.
