Cager Lee Cox

Cager Lee Cox was born in New Orleans, La. On Dec. 13, 1931 to Mr. and Mrs. Cage Vaughn and was raised by grandfather Drice and grandmother Millie MacHenry.

She accepted Christ at an early age. Cager met and married Archie Lee Cox on May 30, 1948 and moved to Hawthorne in 1951. To this union they had three sons and three daughters.

Cager worked for the Naval Ammunition Depot for years and retired with many achievement awards.

She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church were she served faithfully as a Deaconess; Sunday School Superintendent; Sunday School Teacher; Vacation Bible School Director; Choir Member and she was completely committed to the Evangelism Ministry. Cager was an avid student of God’s word. Her favorite Scripture is II Corinthians 5:8 which reads, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”

Cager is preceded in death by her mother and father; grandparents; a daughter, Bobbie Jean Greenwood and a brother, John Willie.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Archie Cox of Hawthorne; sons: Arthur Cox of Hawthorne, Rev. Robert Cox (Lelia) of Hawthorne and Archie Cox, Jr. (Christy Bryant) of Grants Pass, Ore.; daughters: Rita Mackedon of Fallon and Kellie Camp of Hawthorne; one sister, Edith Mae Martin of Hot Springs, Ark.; three sister-in-laws; one son-in-law and a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; friends and brothers and sisters in the body of Christ.

Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Hawthorne.
