The name of a male inmate who had been found unresponsive in the Mineral County Detention Facility on Oct. 9 has been released. Jack Eugene Reese, age 53, of Phoenix, Ariz. had been arrested on Oct. 9 and booked into the facility for unlawful use of a controlled substance.
Reese as found unresponsive by deputies and declared deceased at approximately 5:28 p.m. according to a press release from Undersheriff Bill Ferguson. The cause of death had been determined as self-inflicted strangulation.
Reese had a long history of burglary related crimes in Maricopa County, Ariz., some dating as far back as 1992 and as recently as Oct. of 2010. He had spent time within the Arizona Prison system and had been released from prison on Dec. 26, 2014.
The family of Reese has been notified and the inquiry surrounding his death still continues with Nevada Division of Investigation, per the release.
