The Best In The Desert – Vegas to Reno race will be held this Friday, running right through Mineral County. The 19th annual event is the longest off-road vehicle race will cover 543 miles of public lands in five Nevada counties through rough roads and ditch washouts.

In talking with Casey Folks, Director of Best In The Desert Racing Association, he is very excited about tahis year’s ‘Vegas to Reno’ off-road desert race.

Casey said, “This is the 19th running of the great “Vegas to Reno” race and we just hit a number record of entries…we are excited!”

‘The General Tire “Vegas to Reno’ presented by FOX is our flagship race and I’m so proud to have over 330 teams race with us, along with all of the great volunteers that come out to help keep our racers safe. I’d also like to give a special thank you to Glenn and Marlene Bunch and Dennis Bunch and their team of great volunteers that manage the course from Mina to Top Gun. I couldn’t do this without Glenn and Dennis and their teams, they are all awesome people! We welcome everyone to come out and watch some of the greatest racing in the country; you can spectate from the pit areas only. We look forward to seeing you on Friday.”

Spectators are urged to watch only in designated pit areas. Pits in and around Mineral County include: Redlich Summit; Gabbs; Mina; Rawhide and Top Gun. Traffic maybe heavier due to chase cars following racers from pit to pit.

The ‘Vegas to Reno’ race is scheduled for 24 hours of off-road racing, starting in Beatty and ending in Dayton.

The 2016 20th anniversary “Vegas to Reno” race is slated to last two days.
