11When the Mineral County High School freshman’s decided to take on a challenge, who knew it would be under a tarp competing at the Kenny Bostic Memorial Fund Chili Cook-off, held in the Barley’s Sports Bar parking lot for Armed Forces.

“We made a Chili Verde for our contest dish”, explained student Kylie Berginnis, spokesperson for the group.

“We checked out ideas online, then added our own spices.  It seemed like a great way to get involved in our community, but we also have a chance to earn some money for our student body.”

As a first year effort, the kids designed a festive theme, with colorful table wear; large sombreros and “face wear” that made them stand outs among the surrounding adult booths.
