2Hawthorne resident James Slezak has announced his intentions to run for President of the United States in the 2016 election.

Slezak will be running on the Independent Party and hopes to be Mineral County’s write in.

His goals as president are to get back to on nation, not fifty separate counties.

“What you do in your town, you can do anywhere in the U.S.,” he told the Independent-News is an interview.

He feels that the biggest problem America faces today is the government. “Politicians decide what is right. Let’s put it on the ballot and let the American people decide.”

He would like to run his campaign on as a write-in. Slezak has a limited budget and is hoping to get small donations. He has lived in Hawthorne for two and a half years.

“Living in a small town and running for presidency can get Hawthorne noticed,” he said.

He concluded the interview by stating that he thinks he has ideas for veterans to help them get the care they need.
