5Donald V. Kintz of Hawthorne died Feb. 6 at Mt. Grant Hospital at the age of 88. He was born in Lodgepole, Neb. To Lyle and Martha Kintz. He attended school in Lodgepole and enlisted in the Navy in 1944 until 1946 as a Ship Filler 3rd Class.

June 24, 1948, Don married the love of his life, Lavon Rogers.

He worked at the Sioux Army Depot until August 1966 then transferred to Hawthorne Navy Depot in September 1966 as an Ammo Inspector until his retirement in the late 1970’s.

Don has three brothers: Lavern of Sidney, Neb.; Clarence of Ogallala, Neb. And Leroy of Ovid, Colo. and two sisters: Dee of Denver, Colo. and Florence of Illinois. His wife Lavon of Hawthorne; son Larry and Delphine of Hawthorne; grandsons: Anthony (AJ) and Bryon (Bo) and Sara of Hawthorne; great grandsons: Evyn of Reno, Nev.; Seth and Dillon and great granddaughter, Shelbie, all of Hawthorne.

He loved the great outdoors and all the hunting; fishing; trapping; trap shooting and gold prospecting that Mineral County has to offer.

Don requested no services, and will be taken to rest at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.
