Tara Hall owns Mr. Beane’s Coffee located at 768 E. St. The business is open from 5 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.  Hall took over the business from her parents in August of 2013.

Hall found early she possessed an innate ability for beverage serving. “My stepmom first had this shop. This guy would come in and train us all. He was very knowledgeable; he taught us all the ins and outs,” Hall said.

“I’m just really good beverages. I like bartending, and I like the coffee business.  I’ve noticed even at Starbucks that if a person likes and cares about what they’re doing, it’s going to taste that much better. When you decide what you want to do with your life, pick what you’re good at,” Hall said.

Hall also said she appreciates the interaction with customers because she’s always learning new things. Although Hall hopes to expand and hire employees, at the moment she has occasional part-time help.

Along with her various specialty coffees, smoothies and iced tea, Hall also serves muffins and plans to offer donuts soon. She also has a tentative plan to include a back patio for her business. Hall also plans to spruce up her block, repave the area around her business and add more signage.

“Right now it’s easy for people not used to seeing us to get confused as to the location, so I’m considering a sign at the 95 bypass. I’m not doing this just for me, but to direct travelers through town to utilize other businesses too,” Hall said.

Keeping up with changing product is one of Hall’s challenges. “In the coffee business, people are always wanting something new; you can’t just stick with the same things. You have to keep up with demand for new product,” Hall said.

Interaction with customers is Hall’s favorite part of her job. “I like talking to people and getting to know people. So many people come through who have an interesting story to tell.”

Hall’s future plans include expanding to become more of a community presence. “I’d like all small businesses to work together. I’m here to support anything I can, “Hall said

“If another business or event needs help with getting the word out, this is a good central point for it. I’m also interested in promoting children’s interests or projects, really, anything to help make our community a better place,” Hall concluded.

“I’ve noticed even at Starbucks that if a person likes and cares about what they’re doing, it’s going to taste that much better.
