On May 1, Wilfred “Willy” Buffington and his wife Zoela received received a plaque from the Luning Fire Dept. honoring the two for over 50 years’ service. Wilfred is chief of the Luning Dept.

“We’re going to have our No. 42 truck in the Armed Forces Day parade if we possibly can. A 1942 fire truck,” said Wilfred Buffington. “We try to have it in the parade every year,” Zoela Buffington added.

“I’m the one who hauls the truck over here, and I have enough parts around to keep it running,” said Wilfred Buffington with obvious pride.

The couple’s 50+ years of service doesn’t mean it’s time to retire. “I’m going to stick with it as long as I can,” Wilfred Buffington said.
