George Gram II, General Manager, SOC Nevada LLC, presents a check to Sierra Walker, Mineral County High School student, to help fund her trip to Boston for the National Youth Leadership Forum this July.

George Gram II, General Manager, SOC Nevada LLC, recently presented a check to assist Sierra Walker, a student at Mineral County High School, to help her pursue her entreprenurial dreams.  Sierra was invited to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum in Boston this summer and she jumped at the chance to experience college life, explore professions and receive exposure to the field of business.

Sierra’s nomination to the Forum was the result of her stellar academic performance and high achievement test scores.  She has also demonstrated leadership potential as vice-president of this year’s freshman class and through participation in the National Honor Society last year.

Another attribute that caught the eye of those who have chosen to contribute to Sierra’s NYLF fund is her desire to work hard to earn the money that she needs to get to Boston.  Her fundraising efforts have included hosting bake sales in the community.  Coincidentally, Sierra’s dream is to attend LeCordon Bleu culinary institute in Las Vegas and own her own business.

The Boston NYLF experience will provide Sierra with exposure to social and economic challenges of resource management, technology, alternative energy sources, brainstorming and development of a comprehensive business plan.  She will also tour the campuses of Northeastern University and Harvard.

Sierra will fly to Massachusetts this July and those who would also like to help this young entrepreneur realize her dreams are welcome to consult her Facebook Page: Sierra Walker’s trip to Boston.
