The Mineral County High boys basketball team picked up a big 55-47 road win at Excel Christian last weekend.

The win gives the Serpents a 8-3 conference record and 11-11 overall record.

Despite a poor third quarter effort and going 7 for 22 at the foul line, the MCHS crew came through with the win. Victor Williams led all scorers with 19 points. TyShawn Bonner had 15 points; Brady Cardenas added 14 points and Isaiah Crowl had 5 points.

The Serpents will travel to Whittell on Tuesday. Whittell is on top of conference with a 9-1 record. If the Serpents are patient against their 2-2-1 press, they will have a good chance to win.

On Friday, Mineral County will play in its final home game of the season against Virginia City on senior night. This game will be huge for the Serpents as it will play a big factor in their postseason seeding. A win over the Mucker’s could move the Serpents into the 2nd seed position in the Zone Tournament, which will be held in Reno, beginning next Thursday. Games will be played at Wooster and North Valleys. Time and pairings will be announced next Tuesday.

The Serpents will travel to Smith Valley on Saturday for the final season game. There will be four games beginning at 1 p.m.

See you Friday, wear black and gold and be loud.
