Dozens of tremors have struck in the Hawthorne area since Monday.

The tremors started on Jan. 12 shortly before midnight and, as of press time on Tuesday, 35 minor tremors had rocked the desert outside the town, data from the Nevada Seismological Laboratory show.

The quakes range in intensity from a .02 tremor, which happened on Jan. 13 shortly after 7 a.m., to a 3.8 magnitude quake that was felt throughout Hawthorne on Jan. 13 at 10:10 p.m.

The shaking is generally light, the data show most quakes around a 1.5 magnitude, and the majority seem to be centered about 10 miles to the northeast of Hawthorne.

The Mineral County Sheriff’s Department has not taken any reports of damage or injury related to the quakes.
